Technology and the internet have become crucial in our daily lives in today’s digital age. However, with the increasing dependency on technology comes a rise in digital threats and cyber-attacks, particularly for human rights defenders and individuals within the MENA region. Recognizing this need, Innovation for Change MENA Hub and SimSim-Participation Citoyenne dedicated teams came together to develop the Digital Safety Clinic website.
On July 27th, 2022, the team launched the final version of the website. The new platform is set to change the game for internet safety. This cutting-edge platform offers a comprehensive suite of tools and resources to help protect internet users from malicious online attacks and intrusive surveillance efforts, with a focus on personalized recommendations, instructions, and follow-up assistance.
To raise awareness of the DSClinic and its capabilities, Innovation for Change MENA Hub and SimSim-Participation Citoyenne created animated infographics that effectively communicate the importance of digital safety and showcase the AmanRaqmy course that can be accessed through the DSClinic platform; it also explains how it can help protect internet users from malicious attacks and surveillance efforts and provide solutions and recommendations for how to protect your online accounts from social engineering attack techniques.
But Innovation for Change MENA Hub and SimSim-Participation Citoyenne’s commitment to promoting digital safety continues beyond there. They organized three in-person digital safety training workshops in Morocco, attended by young local activists, journalists, and human rights defenders. These workshops were informative and inspiring, helping the participants deepen their understanding of digital safety and providing them with additional knowledge and skills.
Today, the Digital Clinic is online and ready to tackle any digital threats that may face human rights defenders and individuals within the MENA region. The Digital Safety Clinic aims to protect and empower individuals in the face of digital threats.
